Jorge Gastelumendi is the Director of the Global Policy Initiative at the Atlantic Council of the United States. Jorge previously served as a Senior Advisor and Lead Negotiator on Climate Finance for the Peruvian Ministry of Environment from 2013 to 2015, and as the Director of Global Water & Energy Policy for The Nature Conservancy from 2019 to 2020. Prior to that, Gastelumendi was the Director of Global Policy Lead for Water at The Nature Conservancy from 2015 to 2019, where they developed policy solutions for sustainable hydropower, source water protection, and water markets. Jorge has also served as a Senior Policy Advisor for International Climate Policy at The Nature Conservancy from 2008 to 2014.
Jorge Gastelumendi has a master's in public administration from Harvard Kennedy School, a master of science in energy from the Haskayne School of Business, and a juris doctor from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Jorge also has a bachelor's degree in humanities from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
