David Sousa, MD, FCCM, currently serves as the Chief of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Atlantic Health System, overseeing medical operations and managing a team of 15 physicians alongside advanced practice nurses and physician assistants. Sousa has played a pivotal role in launching the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program and establishing the Atlantic Post-ICU Care Center. As the Medical Director of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center, Sousa developed comprehensive programs and protocols to ensure regulatory compliance. Additionally, Sousa has been involved in treating COVID-19 patients and created the first COVID Recovery Center in New Jersey. With experience as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University and completion of a Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at The Mount Sinai Hospital, Sousa possesses a robust educational background with an MD from Boston University School of Medicine and a BS in Exercise Physiology from Northeastern University.
