Nicholas Keen

Nicholas Keen is an experienced professional in the life sciences field, currently serving as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Atlas Venture since November 2024, focusing on the founding and development of life science companies. Previously, Nicholas held the position of Chief Scientific Officer at Bicycle Therapeutics from January 2017 to August 2024, where leadership contributed to the creation of a new class of medicines. Prior to this, Nicholas was the Head of Oncology Drug Discovery and Executive Director at Novartis from April 2011 to January 2017, overseeing small molecule drug discovery and leading the Oncology group in Cambridge. Nicholas's career also includes a significant role as Associate Director of Cancer Biology at AstraZeneca R&D from 1997 to March 2011, where leadership in early project portfolios and epigenetics in oncology was pivotal. Nicholas began a scientific career as a Post Doctoral Scientist at the Medical Research Council, following completion of a PhD in Virology and Cancer Biology at the University of Cambridge, where a foundation in Natural Sciences was laid with an MA degree.
