Chief Credit Officer at Atom bank

Brian Seal is the current Chief Credit Officer at Atom bank. Brian has over 20 years of experience working in the financial sector, with a focus on credit and risk management. Brian began their career at Bradford & Bingley in December 2006 as Head of Credit Risk. In January 2010, they joined The Home & Savings Bank as Head of Credit/Chief Credit Officer. Brian was responsible for establishing the mortgage/credit infrastructure and enterprise risk management framework for the start-up retail bank in order to obtain FSA authorization and launch the new bank. Brian also scoped system requirements for mortgage origination, credit decisioning, fraud/financial crime, mortgage administration, and credit management. In addition, Brian developed all credit management policies, procedures, and process maps, including all matters pertaining to valuation and conveyancing. Brian defined risk management practices, procedures, and controls under the 3 lines of defense model and shaped the risk register with key controls to mitigate business risks. Brian also worked closely with the Finance team on the production of ICAAP, especially in regards to the definition and calculation of expected losses under various stress scenarios. Brian had extensive interaction with FSA on mortgage/credit related matters and worked with the Executive team to support investor due diligence. Brian reported directly to the CEO.

Brian Seal studied Systems Modelling at Sheffield Hallam University and Houghton Grammar School. Brian also attended Bernard Gilpin School.
