Martin Bourne

Martin Bourne has extensive work experience in the field of data science and software development. Martin is currently working as a Lead Data Scientist at Atom bank since August 2021. Prior to that, they held the position of Senior Data Scientist at Partnerize from May 2020 to July 2021. Before that, they worked as a Data Scientist at Caspian from March 2018 to May 2020.

Martin also has experience in academic research, having worked as a PhD Research Student at the University of Sheffield from September 2013 to January 2018. Their research focused on methods for computing the greatest common divisor of polynomials for real-world applications in computer-aided geometric design.

In addition, Martin has worked as a Software Developer at Southbay Civil Engineering Ltd from August 2011 to October 2017, where they developed an online tool to replace a paper-based purchase and plant hire order system. Martin also worked as a Junior Software Developer at Boughey Distribution Ltd from June 2008 to September 2010, where they identified issues with an existing spreadsheet-based workflow and implemented improvements.

Martin Bourne holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from The University of Sheffield, which they obtained between 2013 and 2017. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science and Mathematics from the same university, graduating in 2012. Martin also attended South Cheshire College from 2007 to 2009, where they pursued AS/A2 Levels. Martin completed their secondary education at Brine Leas High School from 2002 to 2007, obtaining their General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE). In addition, they have acquired certifications in various areas, including Attention Mechanism, Encoder-Decoder Architecture, Introduction to Generative AI, and Introduction to Image Generation, all of which were obtained from Google in 2024.
