Ray Fan has over 30 years of work experience in various engineering roles. Ray began their career at Alberta Innovates-Technology Futures as a Design/Materials Engineer, where they worked for seven years. Ray then joined O-I as a Project/Design Engineer for five years. In 2003, they moved to Alcoa as a Product Development Engineer for three years. Ray then joined Atricure, Inc. in 2006, where they held the positions of Sr. Mechanical Engineer and Principal Mechanical Engineer. At Atricure, they were responsible for product development, mechanical design, testing and analysis, and verification and validation of medical devices. Ray is experienced in utilizing Multiphysics and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools, plastic injection molding, Ansys and Abaqus FEA, Pro/Engineer, MoldFlow, design of experiment (DOE) and statistical process control (SPC) to design and optimize products and tooling. Ray also has expertise in installation/operation/performance qualifications (IQ/OQ/PQ), product/process validations, test equipment/fixtures and test procedures, and quality control for medical devices. Ray is recognized as an authority in analysis capabilities and provides technical guidance based on their results.

Ray Fan earned their Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, where they studied from 1988 to 1991.
