Raj Manickam

Raj Manickam has over 20 years of work experience in various healthcare, data analytics, and consulting roles. Currently, they are a Principal Data Scientist at Atropos Health, where they build and supports data products for generating real-world evidence. Previously, Raj worked as a Healthcare Research Data Consultant at Kaiser Permanente, Division of Research from 2017 to 2021. Raj also served as a Healthcare Analytics Consultant at U C Davis Health System in 2015 and as a Senior Data Consultant (Contractor) at Kaiser Permanente from 2014 to 2015. Before that, Raj co-founded a healthcare analytics startup in 2013. Their earlier experiences include working as an Enterprise Applications Architect / Technical Team Lead at Genentech from 2003 to 2013 and as a Senior Peoplesoft Consultant at Robert Half International, Franklin Templeton Investments, WellPoint, and Gateway Container Corporation.

Raj Manickam is currently a PhD Candidate at the University of California, Davis, specializing in Epidemiology with an area of emphasis on Healthcare Services Research. Prior to pursuing their PhD, Raj obtained an MS degree in Industrial Management from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Raj also holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree from PSG College of Technology.

In addition to their formal education, Raj has obtained several certifications related to their field. Raj is a SAS Certified Advanced Programmer for SAS 9, certified by SAS. Raj has also completed courses on Epidemiology and Statistical Reasoning for Public Health from Coursera, as well as Statistics in Medicine from edX (Kristin Sainini, Stanford University). Further, Raj holds a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information Management Systems certification from HIMSS. Raj has completed a Health Informatics course from Coursera and received Epic Clarity In-Patient and Epic Clarity Out-Patient certifications from Kaiser Permanente. Raj has also participated in the Healthcare Analytics Certificate Program offered by UC Davis Extension.
