Bernadette Papa is an experienced professional with a diverse background in Māori engagement, governance, and conservation. Currently serving as Principal Advisor Māori Outcomes & Climate and Principal Advisor Māori Participation at Auckland Council since June 2016, Bernadette focuses on Treaty relationships and enhancing community participation in decision-making processes. Alongside this role, Bernadette is the Kaitohu-Director of Kāhui Kairāranga o Tāmaki, dedicated to conserving Māori weaving resources in Tāmaki Makaurau. Previous positions include Māori Outcomes Lead Advisor for Tātaki Auckland Unlimited during the FIFAWWC23, and Conservation Partnerships Ranger at the Department of Conservation, where Bernadette specialized in iwi engagement and the translocation of rare wildlife. With a solid educational foundation that includes a BA Hons in Māori Studies and various certificates in engagement and governance, Bernadette continues to contribute significantly to their communities through cultural leadership and collaboration.
