Thomas Sgarbi has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Thomas started their career as an Ingénieur Stagiaire at EDF R&D in 2003, where they worked on probabilistic-mechanics couplings for reliability problems. Thomas then moved on to Liebherr in 2004, where they served as a Project Manager in Mechanical Engineering, focusing on designing and developing excavators. In 2007, they joined Paul Wurth as an R&D Project Manager, overseeing project engineering and managing R&D and customer projects. Thomas joined Audemars Piguet in 2012, initially as an R&D Project Portfolio Manager and later as a Collaborative Innovation Leader, responsible for the implementation and operation of an Innovation Lab and driving business and partnerships development. Thomas eventually became the Head of Innovation & Foresight, leading the company's innovation efforts and strategically contributing to its transformation.

Thomas Sgarbi has a diverse education history. Thomas completed their Master's degree in ingénieur - Mécanique des structures from SIGMA Clermont between 2000 and 2003. In 2017, they pursued another degree, this time in Conception Recherche Innovation from Mines Paris, specializing in Conception innovante. Before that, Thomas attended Lycée Louis de Cormontaigne from 1998 to 2000, where they studied Classes préparatoires aux grandes écoles (CPGE). In 2022, they are set to attend IMD for the TransformTECH Program. Additionally, Thomas has obtained various certifications, such as the Predictive index - Practitioner from The Predictive Index and IMD/EPFL - TransformTech from IMD in 2022, as well as IMD - DSI - Driving Strategic Innovation 1 Live from IMD Business School in 2021.
