Freddie Mitchell Cara

Freddie Mitchell CA(SA)RA, CISA, currently serves as the Business Unit Leader for Risk and Ethics at the Auditor-General of South Africa since October 2022. Prior to this role, Freddie held the position of Executive: Internal Audit Services at SITA SOC (Ltd) from January 2019 to September 2022, and served as a member of the Committee for Auditor Ethics for The Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors from April 2017 to September 2022. Freddie's extensive experience in internal audit includes leadership roles at the South African Bureau of Standards and South African Tourism, where responsibilities encompassed forensic investigations and ethics management. Additionally, Freddie has a significant history with the Auditor General of South Africa, starting as a Trainee Accountant/Auditor and advancing to Senior Technical Manager, focusing on audit engagement management and training. Freddie holds a B.Com (Accounting and Finance) from the University of Limpopo and a B.Com Hons/CTA from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
