Alexis Gonzales-Black has a diverse work experience in organizational design and leadership. Alexis started their career as a Corps Member and Corps Member Advisor at Teach For America, where they played a role in recruitment and admissions. Alexis later became a Recruitment Director, leading on-campus recruitment efforts for multiple universities. Alexis then moved on to work at Zappos Family of Companies as an Org Design Lead, leading a team and overseeing the company's transition to Holacracy. Alexis'swork received media attention from Forbes, Huffington Post, Fox, and CNN Money. Alexis also served as an elected Board Member on the Nevada State Board of Education, where they crafted policies and regulations for public schools. Alexis has experience in designing organizations and implementing change, as seen in their roles at IDEO and August Public. Alexis is the author of "The New School Rules," which offers a modern management framework for schools. Additionally, Alexis has served on the Equity & Inclusion Advisory Board at Seed&Spark and as a Board Member at WestEd.
Alexis Gonzales-Black obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology from James Madison University between 2003 and 2007. In 2014, they also obtained certification as a Certified Holacracy Coach from HolacracyOne, LLC.
