Shannon N. Tierney

Shannon N. Tierney is a highly experienced breast oncology surgeon currently serving as the Medical Director of the Breast Program at Augusta Health since April 2021. With a focus on developing an integrated, patient-centric, and data-driven approach to breast disease, Shannon emphasizes providing rural Virginia women with access to high-quality care comparable to that found in leading cancer centers. Previous roles include Medical Director of the breast program at Sentara Healthcare and Medical Director of Breast Surgery at Swedish Cancer Institute, along with extensive involvement in various boards and initiatives supporting women with breast and gynecologic cancers. Shannon's educational background includes an MD from Washington University in St. Louis, an MS in Health Evaluation Sciences from the University of Virginia, and a BA from Transylvania University.
