Zhewei Shen

Senior Genomics Scientist at Auransa

Zhewei Shen has a wealth of work experience, beginning in 2005 as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Southern California, where they constructed mutant yeast strain selection vectors and learned standard molecular biology techniques. In 2006, they worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at UCLA, where they generated flowering mutants in Arabidopsis thaliana and assessed the efficiency of siRNA-mediated knockdown of target genes. From 2007 to 2014, Shen worked as a Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine, where they defined the roles of Hippo signaling pathway in liver cancer and regeneration, and investigated Hippo pathway-mediated cell cycle regulation. Since 2018, Shen has been a Senior Genomics Scientist at Auransa Inc., where they assess SWI/SNF mutations as clinical markers for pancreatic cancer treatment using cell lines and Illumina NGS tools, and analyzes patient outcomes in relation to SWI/SNF variants and treatments given using TCGA.

Zhewei Shen began their education in 2003, when they attended the University of California, Santa Cruz and studied Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology. In 2005, they transferred to the University of California, Los Angeles, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology. Zhewei then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Pennsylvania, which they completed in 2014.
