Daria Phoebe Brashear has been involved in the technology industry since 1991. Daria Phoebe began their career as a Clusters student employee at Carnegie Mellon University. In 1995, they were promoted to Systems Programmer at the same university. In 2000, they became a founding member of the all-volunteer OpenAFS council of elders and substantially created the organization's original structure. From 2001 to 2008, they worked at Sine Nomine Associates as an AFS technical manager, consultant, and coordinator of work of others in the same space. In 2008, they were appointed Chief Geek at AuriStor, Inc.

Daria Phoebe Brashear attended Carnegie Mellon University from 1991 to 1999, where they earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering.
