Gunnar Groebler is a board member at Aurubis. Gunnar was previously the Senior Vice President - Head of Business Area Wind at Vattenfall from November 2012 to May 2021. In this role, they were responsible for the entire Wind business of Vattenfall, including project development, engineering & construction, and operation & maintenance.

Groebler developed the Business Area to grow substantially in Onshore and Offshore Wind and to reduce the levelized cost of energy. Gunnar also worked on developing further energy options.

Previously, Groebler was the Head of Hydro Germany at Vattenfall Europe Generation AG from January 2011 to December 2013. In this role, they had overall responsibility for Vattenfall's hydroelectric power business in Germany (12 power plant locations in Schleswig-Holstein, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, and Saxony, ~2800MW installed capacity, ~500 employees). Gunnar developed and implemented a restructuring program to ensure a sustainable turnaround, which included increasing the automation of all facilities and the remote control depth of the central control room for the entire portfolio of plants; introducing a risk-based and flexible maintenance strategy and implementation to improve budget allocation and increase plant availability; and organizational adjustments with reduced management levels and parallel reduction in staff. Groebler also optimized the marketing of pumped storage in response to changes in energy market conditions and built an asset management function to analyze the existing assets in the context of the overall portfolio and
