Joseph Ramirez is an experienced professional in film and audio engineering with a career spanning several years in the cinema industry. Currently serving as a Projectionist at the Austin Film Society since May 2022, Joseph specializes in digital and film projection as well as audio engineering. At Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, a position held since August 2016, Joseph has honed a diverse skill set as a Projectionist, Audio-Visual Engineer, and Project Coordinator, showcasing technical proficiency and creative problem-solving abilities. Joseph holds a Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting and Screenwriting from Maharishi International University and a Bachelor of Science in Radio, Television, and Digital Communication from The University of Texas at Austin.

Founded in 1985 by filmmaker Richard Linklater, AFS creates life-changing opportunities for filmmakers, catalyzes Austin and Texas as a creative hub, and brings the community together around great film. AFS supports filmmakers towards career leaps, encouraging exceptional artistic projects with grants and support services. AFS operates Austin Studios, a 20-acre production facility, to attract and grow the creative media ecosystem. The AFS Cinema is an ambitiously programmed repertory and first-run arthouse with broad community engagement. By hosting premieres, local and international industry events, and the Texas Film Awards, AFS shines the national spotlight on Texas filmmakers while connecting Austin and Texas to the wider film community.
