Michael Kasitz

Michael Kasitz is the Director of Public Safety at Austin Peay State University. Michael has over 20 years of experience in law enforcement and emergency management.

Kasitz began their career in law enforcement as a security guard at Eastern Kentucky University in 1990. Michael became a police officer in 1995 and steadily rose through the ranks, becoming a sergeant in 1999 and a captain in 2008. In 2013, they were named the Director of Emergency Management at Eastern Kentucky University. Michael held this position until 2019 when they left to become the Director of Public Safety at Austin Peay State University.

Kasitz has been instrumental in developing and implementing policies and procedures that have improved public safety at both Eastern Kentucky University and Austin Peay State University. Michael is a highly respected law enforcement officer and is committed to making their community a safer place to live.

Michael Kasitz has a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) from Eastern Kentucky University and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Police Administration from Eastern Kentucky University.

They are on a team with Benjamin Harmon - Associate VP for Finance, Sonja Stewart - Director, Budgets, and Judy Molnar - Assoc VP for Information Technology. Michael Kasitz reports to Mitch Robinson, VP for Finance and Administration.
