Kat Burela

Kat Burela has extensive experience in regulatory and policy affairs within the energy and telecommunications sectors. Beginning as a Senior Analyst at the Australian Energy Regulator from January 2013 to June 2014, Burela transitioned to a role as Policy and Regulation Specialist at the ACCC, where involvement included product safety and consumer protections for nearly six years. This was followed by a position as Regulatory & Compliance Lead at EnergyAustralia, managing stakeholder relationships and regulatory risk management. Burela further developed expertise as Senior Regulatory Lead and Regulatory Strategy Manager at AGL Energy, focusing on regulatory frameworks and consumer protections. Recently, as Senior Regulatory Specialist at Telstra, responsibilities included leading consumer data rights policy and external regulatory engagement. Currently, Burela serves as Head of Policy & Regulatory Affairs at Australia Post. Academic qualifications include degrees in Law and Political Science from the University of Tasmania, complemented by a Graduate Diploma in Public Policy.
