Kym McMahon

AFL National Participation Growth Manager, Indigenous & Inclusion at Australian Football League

Kym McMahon has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Starting in 1998, they worked at the Milne Bay Aquatic Centre as a Sales & Front of House Operator, Lifeguard, Café Attendant, and Swim Teacher until 2002. From 2002 to 2004, they worked as a Primary School Teacher at the Department of Education, Training and Employment in Queensland. Moving into the sports industry, they joined the Australian Sports Commission in 2004 and held roles such as Regional Coordinator, Regional Manager, Senior Project Manager, and National Sporting Organization Liaison Manager. Kym played a key role in managing the Active After-School Communities (AASC) program and implementing strategies to enhance junior sport participation. In 2015, Kym joined Swimming Australia and served in various positions, including Youth and School's Program Manager, National School's Swimming Specialist, National Participation Manager, General Manager Sport Growth, and General Manager Sport Development. Kym'sresponsibilities involved driving sport development, managing participation programs, and promoting growth in the swimming community. Currently, Kym works at the AFL - Australian Football League as the National Diversity and Inclusion Participation Manager.

Kym McMahon's education history begins in 1993 at Centenary Heights State High School where they completed their secondary education. Kym then went on to attend the University of Southern Queensland from 1998 to 2001, earning a Bachelor of Education (BEd) with a major in Health and Physical Education. In 2005, Kym obtained a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment from Central Queensland University. Continuing their education, they completed a Certificate IV in Project Management at the Australian Institute of Management in 2009. In 2010, they attended Mt Eliza Business School and obtained a Professional Certificate of Management. Additionally, in 2017, they participated in the Stepping In - Women Leaders in Sport program at Melbourne Business School. Most recently, in 2018-2019, Kym enrolled at Victoria University and completed a Graduate Certificate in Sport Integrity (Masters).
