Tristan Salter has had extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Tristan began their career in 2006 at the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA), where they served as the Strategic Deterrence Manager and later as the National Education Manager. In these positions, they developed and implemented anti-doping education strategies and managed budgets successfully.

In 2009, Salter founded the Salter Hill Group (SHG), where they served as the Managing Director. Tristan played a crucial role in developing and executing the company's strategy and operations, transforming it into a respected and dynamic professional services firm.

Salter joined the Australian Football League (AFL) in 2010 as the Elite Education Manager and later as the Cultural Strategy & Education Manager. Tristan led various initiatives related to education, mental health, and social issues within the AFL.

In 2015, Salter became the Head of Player Talent, Education, and Projects at the AFL. Tristan was responsible for overseeing talent pathway programs, state leagues, and education initiatives. Tristan implemented key recommendations from the AFL's Future Direction of Football Review and managed major projects within Football Operations.

From 2020 to 2021, Salter served as the Head of AFL Talent Pathway and State League Football, leading through the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. Tristan ensured the success and development of talent pathways and state leagues across Australia.

In 2021, Salter took on a secondment role with the Gold Coast SUNS while continuing their AFL responsibilities. Tristan assisted with Commercial & Growth Strategy for the team.

Currently, Salter holds the position of Head of Commercial Strategy & Growth at the AFL. In this role, they oversee and leads the AFL's non-traditional business growth and consumer product division. Tristan is responsible for driving commercial opportunities, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and managing market research and insights.

Tristan Salter pursued their education with a strong focus on sports and physical education. In 1998, they enrolled at Victoria University where they obtained their Bachelor of Arts in Sports Administration three years later, in 2000. Building upon this foundation, Tristan went on to further their studies in the field of Education at RMIT University in 2001, completing a Diploma of Education specializing in Physical Education & Health.
