James Hart has extensive experience in leadership roles within the Australian Government, currently serving as Acting Deputy Secretary of Skills and Training in the Department of Education and Training since May 2014. Hart's previous roles include Group Manager positions in Research and Economic, Strategic Policy and Data Analytics, VET Student Loans, and Higher Education, where efforts were focused on policy development, research infrastructure, and strategic planning. Earlier positions in the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, and the Department of Education, Employment, and Workplace Relations involved streamlining skills programs and managing employee entitlement schemes. Hart holds a Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Monash University.
