Katharine McKenzie

Katie McKenzie is an accomplished energy professional with extensive experience in strategy, regulation, and policy. Currently serving as Group Manager for WA System Design and Transformation at AEMO since March 2024, Katie is also a member of the School of Business and Law Advisory Board at Edith Cowan University and has held various leadership roles within the Australian Institute of Energy since 2014. Previously, Katie was a Director at EY, where assistance was provided to governments and utilities on energy transition strategies, and held prominent positions within the United Nations Association of Australia and Macht Consulting. A strong advocate for renewable energy, Katie contributed to the development of the WA Government's Energy Transformation Strategy and has a background in energy law from their time as a Senior Associate at Jackson McDonald. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from Edith Cowan University and executive education at Harvard Business School.

The Australian Institute of Energy ("AIE"​) brings together individuals and companies with interests and involvement in the energy sector in Australia. Through a wide range of activities, the AIE encourages discussion and debate on energy issues, promotes research and disseminates information.
