Miles Apperley

Group Executive Nuclear Safety, Security And Stewardship at ANSTO

Miles Apperley currently serves as the Group Executive of Nuclear Safety, Security and Stewardship at ANSTO since July 2022. Prior to this role, Miles held the position of Head of Research Infrastructure at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation from February 2016 to July 2022. Miles also served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Microscopy & Microanalysis Research Facility from June 2015 to February 2016, following a tenure as Chief Operating Officer at the same facility from July 2007 to June 2015, where responsibilities included compliance reporting and strategic planning. Earlier experience includes roles as Business Development Manager at the NANO Major National Research Facility and the Business Liaison Office at the University of Sydney, and Principal Technologist at Metal Manufactures Ltd, focusing on high-temperature superconductors. Miles began career as a Senior Development Engineer at MM Cables, specializing in product and technology development. Academic qualifications include a PhD and a Bachelor of Metallurgical Engineering with Honours from UNSW, along with credentials from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
