Paula Johnston

Paula Johnston has extensive experience in financial leadership and governance, currently serving as an External Member of the Data & Analytics Program Board at Queensland Audit Office since 2022, and as a Fellow at the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation since October 2018. Paula held the position of Chief Financial Officer at the University of Newcastle from June 2019 to January 2024 and served as Interim CFO and General Manager of Corporate Services at The Mai-Wel Group in mid-2024. Additional roles include External Member of the Audit & Risk Committee at Hunter Medical Research Institute from March 2020 to December 2023, Director of Financial & Business Services at James Cook University from January 2016 to June 2019, and various board positions including Member of the Board of Directors for JCU Univet and James Cook University College. Previous experience at PwC encompassed over a decade as Director, providing assurance and business improvement services across Northern Australia. Paula Johnston holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts from The Australian National University.
