David Feeney GAICD is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in political and public service roles, including membership on the NIOA Advisory Board since November 2020 and serving as a Senior Fellow at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute since August 2018. Feeney participated in the Independent Review of Victoria’s electoral and political donations system in 2023, and held a position on the Victorian Defence Council from July 2019 to August 2023. Previously, Feeney was a Member of the House of Representatives and Senator for Victoria from July 2008 to February 2018, and also served as Parliamentary Secretary for Defence within the Australian Department of Defence from September 2010 to September 2013. In earlier roles, Feeney was involved with the Australian Labor Party as Assistant National Secretary and held leadership positions within various organizations, including the Transport Workers’ Union of Australia as Federal Industrial Officer. Academically, Feeney is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Classical and Ancient Studies at the University of Melbourne and has earned multiple degrees, including a Master of Public Policy and Management from Monash University.
