Russell Canning

Russell Canning is currently serving as the New South Wales Trade & Investment Manager at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) since February 2023, facilitating foreign direct investment by assisting European companies in establishing or expanding operations in New South Wales, Australia. Prior to this, Russell held various roles within the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, including Senior Government Lawyer, Government Lawyer, and Graduate Lawyer, from February 2016 to August 2022. Russell's legal career began with positions as a Graduate at Law at VisAustralia International Pty and a Seasonal Clerk at Clayton Utz, along with experience as a Paralegal at Brandon & Gullo Lawyers. Russell holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in International Relations and Affairs from Deakin University, and participated in an exchange program at Universidad Espiritu Santo in Ecuador in 2011.
