Sounok Sarkar

Sounok Sarkar has a diverse work experience in various technology-related roles. Sounok started their career as a Research Technician 1 at the Digital Building Lab in the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2018. Here, they created a framework in Revit python for the auto-generation of planar component assembly building systems. Sounok implemented the digital assembly of various building typologies and layouts using Cross-laminated timber as the material.

In 2019, Sounok joined HOK as a Design Technology Specialist. Sounok collaborated on the creation of Sketch-Gan, an app that generates images from conceptual building sketches using Pix2Pix, a GAN architecture. Sounok constructed a pipeline to pull image data from databases, applied image modification using OpenCV, and tuned Pix2Pix hyperparameters to improve results. Their team won the "best hack award" at the AEC Tech hackathon.

From 2020 until 2023, Sounok worked at Voyansi as a Software Engineer. Sounok contributed to the development of a platform that functions as an Appstore for BIM. Sounok focused on creating enterprise features, custom user management, and version control for Autodesk software plugins.

In 2023, Sounok joined Autility as a Software Engineer, specializing in machine learning.

Sounok Sarkar completed their Master of Science (MS) in Architecture with a specialization in Design Technology from the Georgia Institute of Technology, from 2017 to 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) in Architectural Engineering from Jadavpur University, completing their degree from 2012 to 2017. In addition to their formal education, they also pursued additional certifications in the field of machine learning, including "Neural Networks and Deep Learning" from Coursera, which they obtained in October 2021, and "Machine Learning with Python," also from Coursera, which they obtained in May 2020.
