Autism Services Inc.

The programs at Autism Services are not designed to cure autism, but to help people with autism learn to function in a society that was never tailored to them. We approach autism as a culture that has much to contribute. With this at the heart of our philosophy, we are a platform for our artists, writers, poets and musical performers to express themselves to their communities. ArtsWork is our agency's signature program. Through ArtsWork, the universal language of art and music is used to create a bridge between people with autism and the community at large. Theatrical presentations, musical performances and art exhibitions allow our population to engage with the public, facilitating communication and socialization while increasing awareness. We are an open and available resource, both to other organizations and institutions, and to the community. Every year we conduct several workshops centered on autism treatment and awareness. The agency also maintains the Autism Services Resource Lending Library, containing a selection of books, professional journals, newsletters, video tapes and assessment tools. The breadth of available subject matter offers in-depth knowledge that is supportive of our mission. Parents, especially, will find our Library of significant use. It allows them to try before they buy expensive at-home sensory integration equipment. To schedule a visit to our Lending Library, call us at 716-631-5777.
