Alexander Statnikov

Alexander Statnikov is currently an advisor at AV8 Ventures. Alexander has also previously worked at Square and SoFi. At SoFi, they were the Global Head of Data Science and Machine Learning from January 2018 to December 2020. In this role, they led a central Data organization with over 100 people that drove all data science & machine learning, analytics & business insights, and data engineering & infrastructure activities at SoFi. Alexander was also a member of the Executive Staff of the CEO.

Under their leadership, the Data organization was built from the ground up and 60+ new team members were hired in one year. Alexander established best industry practices and efficient alignment & execution processes. Alexander also built table stakes data science capabilities and delivered strong business results in the areas of risk management (credit and fraud), pricing, marketing, customer operations, and product. In addition, they expanded core analytics and business insights capabilities by setting up self-service dashboards to provide near real-time visibility into business performance, establishing excellence in experimentation and product/growth analytics, and delivering business insights that defined business strategy and led to significant revenue opportunities. Finally, they developed the next generation data and machine learning/analytics platform by building from scratch an enterprise data lake, building a core machine learning/analytics platform, and modernizing the data warehouse and data pipelines.

Alexander Statnikov received their PhD in Biomedical Informatics (Machine Learning) from Vanderbilt University. Prior to that, they completed a Master's degree in Biomedical Informatics (Machine Learning) also from Vanderbilt University. Alexander has a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Case Western Reserve University. Alexander also has a certification from Harvard Business Publishing in American Express & Harvard Certificate in Leadership Excellence.
