Mona Grigg attended Mountain View High School from 1984 to 1986, where they did not obtain a specific degree or field of study. After high school, they pursued a Cosmetology License at Phoenix Academy of Beauty, and later obtained a Cosmetology Instructor License at the Artistic Academy of Beauty.

In Addition we offer advanced training in Make Artistry, Eyelash Extensions, and Nails. Avalon has 5 locations, Mesa, Arizona, Phoenix, Arizona, Layton, Utah, Aurora, Colorado, and Las Vegas, Nevada. Avalon has provided professional beauty related training for more than 40 years. Our school was founded in Mesa, Arizona in 1967 and approved for accreditation in 1972 by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS). In 1993 the School was incorporated as Joy Etc. Ltd. In 2008. It was purchased by EA Education, Inc. and renamed to Avalon School of Cosmetology in 2009.
