Avijit Sarkar

Avijit Sarkar, Ph.D., possesses extensive experience in research and development within the biotechnology sector. Currently, as the Manager of R&D and Production at Avantor since November 2018, Avijit leads the design and development of various immunodiagnostic products, including ELISA and rapid card assays, while also overseeing technology transfer and process establishment. Prior to this role, Avijit worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases in Kolkata, India, focusing on H. Pylori mediated disease pathogenesis and the molecular characterization of Vibrio cholerae in its viable but non-culturable state. Avijit's early career included a position as a Doctoral Researcher at IPGME&R in Kolkata, where the focus was on oxidative stress in Leishmaniasis and screening drug candidates against Leishmania and cancer cell lines. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Calcutta, an MSc in Microbiology from the University of Kalyani, and a BSc in Zoology from Berhampore Krishnath College.
