Barbara Franz

Barbara Franz has worked in the design industry since 2004, beginning with an internship at Gaggenau GmbH as a Product Design Intern. In 2008, they moved to Studio Massaud as a Product Design Intern. In 2010, they returned to IDEO as a Freelance Designer & Researcher and Industrial Design Intern. From 2011-2016, they served in various roles at IDEO, including Design Director, Senior Design & Research Lead, Design & Research Lead, Senior Designer & Researcher, and Designer & Researcher. During this time, they also lectured at the Technical University of Munich as a Lecturer and Teaching Assistant at the Chair of Industrial Design from 2014-2016. Since 2021, Franz has been the Director Brand & Experience Design and Head Of Design at Avi Medical.

Barbara Franz attended Aalto University from 2008 to 2015, where they earned a MA in Industrial and Strategic Design. Prior to that, they attended ENSCI-Les Ateliers from 2007 to 2008 for Industrial Design. Barbara also attended Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart from 2005 to 2008.
