Dr. Michael Garcia

Dr. Michael Garcia is the Director of Opportunity & Achievement at Mesa Public Schools, where responsibilities include coordinating the AVID program and achieving the status of AVID National Demonstration School. With extensive experience in educational leadership, Dr. Garcia previously served as the AVID District Director and has also held roles as an AVID Coordinator and English Teacher, as well as an instructor for Advanced Placement English with The College Board and an adjunct professor at the University of Phoenix. In addition, Dr. Garcia contributes as an AVID Staff Developer and Senior Subject Matter Expert. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education in English from Arizona State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Grand Canyon University, and a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Innovation from Arizona State University.
