Mike Flanagan

Mike Flanagan has an extensive background in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Mike currently serves as the CSO/CTO at Avidity Biosciences, Inc. starting in January 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Genentech from January 2012 to January 2021, where they held the position of Project Team Leader in Oncology & Immunology. From November 2007 to December 2011, Mike was the Senior Director of RNA Sciences at Merck. Mike also worked at Sunesis Pharmaceuticals as the Senior Director of Biology from January 1999 to September 2007. Before that, Mike served as a Senior Scientist at Gilead Sciences from January 1993 to December 1998. Mike started their career as an American Cancer Society Post-Doctoral Fellow at Stanford Medical School--HHMI from August 1989 to December 1992.
