Dutch Bell has over 30 years of professional work experience. Dutch began their career in 1984 as a Systems Engineer at Rockwell International, where they performed mathematical analysis of high accuracy test equipment components and supervised product installation at client sites. In 1988, they moved to Honeywell - T&CSD as a Software Engineer, where they developed aircraft control system simulations for Stealth B2 flight-deck simulators. In 1989, they began pursuing a graduate degree at the University of California. After graduating, they joined Miller-Hare Ltd. in 1992 as a Principal Engineer, where they were responsible for the design and development of applications which controlled high-speed digital printers from a networked Windows NT environment. In 1996, they became a Software Engineer - Consultant at GammaGraphX, where they contributed to the design and development of applications which controlled high-speed digital printers from a networked Windows NT environment. Finally, in 1997, they returned to Avidyne as a Principal Engineer, where they were responsible for all phases of the software life cycle in the production of safety-critical flight systems. Dutch has remained at Avidyne since then.

Dutch Bell received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder between 1979 and 1983. Dutch then went on to obtain a Master of Architecture from the University of California, Los Angeles between 1989 and 1992.
