Jean-Pierre (J-P) Forest has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Jean-Pierre(J-P) started their career in 1980 in the Canadian Armed Forces, where they served as an MCpl Military Police and a Sapper until 1989. In 1992, they joined Intercon Security and worked as the Manager of the Technical Intelligence Unit until 2005. In 1995, they began working at Pacific Skydivers Ltd as a Cameraflyer, but their skydiving activities were hindered due to a plane crash in 2008. From 2006 to 2008, Forest worked at Avigilon Corporation as the Director of Security Solutions. Jean-Pierre(J-P) later co-founded Avigilon in 2012 and held the role of System Assembler I until their retirement in November 2018. Additionally, Forest has experience in video production at Blue Skies Video Productions, where they worked as a Cameraflyer and underwent traumatic brain injury rehab from 2001 to 2012.

Jean-Pierre (J-P) Forest attended W.A. Losier High School from 1978 to 1980, where they obtained a high school diploma with a focus on general studies. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Moncton, NB Shippagan Campus in 1990 and completed their studies in 1991, specializing in commercial law. J-P then pursued education at LEVA from 2001 to 2008, although the specific degree and field of study are not mentioned.
