Douglas Cuny, MS has extensive work experience in the medical device industry. Douglas started their career at United States Surgical Corporation in 1988, where they served as the Director of R&D. During their time there, they successfully led the development and delivery of a $5.3M project.
In 2006, Douglas joined Spine Wave, Inc. as the Director of R&D, and later took on the role of Senior Director of R&D. Douglas assumed leadership of a project and made adjustments based on feedback from surgeons, demonstrating their problem-solving skills. Douglas then became the Vice President of Manufacturing, responsible for leading manufacturing, supply chain, and facilities functions.
In 2019, Douglas joined Avitus Orthopaedics as the Vice President of Operations. In this role, they guided corrective actions and supply chain recovery in response to audits and drove R&D activities leading to the launch of two new derivative products.
Douglas later moved to CooperSurgical in 2021 as the Senior Director of R&D - Product Engineering. There, they directed technical sustaining activities for a wide range of products and restructured the team to improve efficiency.
In 2023, Douglas returned to Avitus Orthopaedics as the Vice President of Manufacturing and Engineering Operations. Currently, they oversee manufacturing and engineering operations for the company.
Douglas Cuny holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Rutgers University. Douglas further pursued their education at the University of Bridgeport, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Management Engineering. Prior to their collegiate endeavors, Douglas attended Ridgefield High School.
