Ric Vieler has worked as a software engineer since 2003. Ric's career began at Cenzic, where they were responsible for design, development, and testing of web security test software. Ric then moved to HBGary in 2004, where they were responsible for design, development, and testing of exploit software and rootkits for Windows and Linux operating systems. In the same year, they also became the CEO and Software Engineer at Simple PC Security Inc, where they were responsible for the development of a host-based intrusion prevention system. Ric then moved to Klocwork Corp in 2005, where they were a Field Engineer responsible for technical sales support and security research and development. From 2006 to 2012, Ric worked at Trend Micro Devices, Symantec, and Gridstore as a Senior Software Engineer and Principal Software Engineer, respectively. In these roles, they were responsible for design, development, and support of Windows services and device drivers, as well as developing C/C++/C# test tools for HyperConverged block storage systems. Finally, Ric has been working at Vera Security, Inc. since 2018, where they are a Senior Software Engineer responsible for developing Windows User Mode Hooking techniques and libraries, Microsoft Windows Office Add-ins, and Windows Application Shims. Ric began working at Avocado Systems in 2020.
Ric Vieler has taken courses in Computer Science and Mathematics at Excelsior College and De Anza College. Ric has also obtained a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification from Microsoft.
