Sandra Alcala

Sandra Alcala, PhD, currently serves as Senior Vice President at Avōq, a company formed in 2024 through the merger of Subject Matter and Kivvit. Sandra has been with Subject Matter since December 2021, contributing to the organization's transformation into Subject Matter+Kivvit prior to its rebranding as Avōq. Previously, Sandra held multiple roles in the U.S. House of Representatives from January 2013 to December 2021, including Chief of Staff, Director of Member Services, and Policy Director, where responsibilities encompassed supporting the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and managing legislative initiatives. Additional experience includes positions at the Arizona Democratic Party, Podesta Group, and the National Science Foundation, as well as a fellowship with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. Sandra holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University.
