Kimmo Kummala

Kimmo Kummala has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Kimmo is currently a Co-founder & VP of Engineering at Awake.AI since June 2019. Prior to that, they worked as a Software Engineering Lead at Kongsberg Maritime from April 2019 to May 2019. From July 2017 to March 2019, they held the position of Software Engineering Lead for Ship Intelligence at Rolls-Royce, where they were responsible for software engineering tools, processes, and methods. Before that, Kimmo was a Partner and Chief Technology Officer at RCP Software Oy from January 2016 to June 2017, where they played a key role in building up the engineering software and hardware service company. Kimmo also worked as a Software Product Development Manager at Microsoft from April 2014 to February 2016, where they successfully managed the software development for Lumia 950XL. Kimmo worked at Nokia for several years, serving as a Software Product Development Manager and a SW Project Team Leader. Kimmo was also a Bluetooth Team Leader and Chief Design Engineer at Microcell Oy. Overall, Kimmo has extensive experience in software engineering, project management, and leadership roles.

Kimmo Kummala has a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology from Turku University of Applied Sciences. Additionally, they obtained a certification as a Certified Project Manager at IPMA Level C in April 2011, from PRYCERT, the certification body of Project Management Association Finland.
