The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is a national organization dedicated to achieving equity and full participation of women in science, mathematics, engineering and technology (STEM). The AWIS-San Diego chapter was established in the mid 1980s. It currently has over 200 active members, and is one of the largest chapters in the country. Our diverse membership includes students as well as professors; entry-level interns through to CEOs; patent attorneys and business entrepreneurs. 

We participate in the San Diego science community in many ways, from research and teaching, to patent law, science writing, and consulting; in academia, government organizations, and across business and industry.

AWIS San Diego is committed to promoting diversity in STEM workplaces and to providing professional development opportunities for women at all stages of their education and careers.
