Austin Chi has an extensive work experience. Austin began their career in 2011 as a Project Coordinator for the International Summer Program at California State University, Long Beach. In 2015, they worked as a Business Intern at Nimble Cargo Scooters. In 2018, they began working as a Tutor for Trilogy Education, specializing in coding boot camps. Austin also worked as a Teaching Assistant at the University of California, Riverside, where they taught Econometrics ECN 107. In 2017, they worked as a Data Analyst at Virscend University, helping the Deputy Director of Admission to analyze data from google analytics. In 2018, they interned at Gamania Digital Entertainment, one of the largest game development studios in Taiwan, where they collected data for and developed a Natural Language Processing (NLP), and video view prediction model. In 2019, they began working as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at AWM, where they redesigned their system architecture into a containerized distributed micro service architecture built on a backbone of Kafka and Minio. Austin was later promoted to Director of Machine Learning Operations, where they oversaw machine learning and development operations, as well as set direction and architect the design of the Frictionless product. Austin also oversaw the evolution of their on-prem Frictionless product into a cloud and hybrid architecture running on Kubernetes container orchestration. Lastly, they worked on real-time product image recognition for frictionless stores, including efficient distributed inference pipeline, and dynamic creation of scene specific image transformation. Additionally, they created the backend for store wide dynamic planogram capable of real time tracking of placed and misplaced objects.

Austin Chi received their Bachelor of Arts and Science (B.A.S.) in Economics and Statistics from the University of California, Davis in 2017. Austin then went on to obtain their Master's degree in Statistics from the University of California, Riverside in 2019.
