Philip Whittingham

Philip Whittingham is an accomplished risk management professional with extensive experience in various leadership roles within the insurance industry. Currently serving as the UK Chief Risk Officer at AXA XL since September 2019, Philip is responsible for managing risk for AXA XL's UK entities, including Lloyd's Syndicates. Philip holds a director position at ORIC International and previously chaired the Internal Model Industry Forum at the Institute of Risk Management. Prior roles include Head of Model Validation and Risk Governance at XL Catlin, where responsibilities encompassed group-wide risk governance and operational risk oversight. With a background that includes senior positions at Ernst & Young, KPMG, Lloyd's of London, Prudential Assurance, and Marsh, Philip has a strong foundation in enterprise risk management and regulatory compliance, supported by an MBA from Durham University and a BA from the University of Liverpool, as well as fellowship in the Institute of Risk Management.
