Darrel Zhao

Darrel Zhao is a co-founder and CFO at AxaBlock, a Minneapolis-based software company that leverages behavioral economics to develop innovative productivity applications, starting in March 2024. Darrel served as co-president of the Wayzata Biology Club, facilitating interactive labs and coaching over 30 members for the USABO competition. As vice president of community involvement at DECA Inc., Darrel recruited judges and collaborated with leaders to manage a large chapter. Leadership abilities were also demonstrated as captain of the Wayzata Science Bowl C Team, achieving a 3rd place finish at the 2024 Regional Science Bowl. Involvement as a youth advisor with the Minnesota Department of Health included judging PSA videos for the MN Escape the Vape initiative and advocating for vaping awareness. Darrel's education includes a Bachelor's of Science in Biomedical Engineering and Economics at Northwestern University, complemented by prior studies at Wayzata High School and the University of Minnesota. Notably, Darrel received the 2023 Minnesota Start-Up Business Plan State Champion award.
