Alek P.

Alek P. has solid work experience in the field of cloud engineering and software development. Alek is currently working as a Lead Cloud Engineer at Axcient since September 2019. Prior to that, they worked at Datto, Inc. from February 2017 to September 2019 as a Senior Software Engineer. At Datto, they played a significant role in maintaining and developing ZFSonLinux and related projects. Alek also led the architecture of an experimental cloud storage layout and resolved complex storage issues. Before joining Datto, Alek worked at Nexenta from August 2010 to January 2017 in multiple roles, including Platform Software Engineer, Software Engineer, and Engineering Intern. Alek'scontributions at Nexenta focused on the development of various components of NexentaStor, such as the OpenZFS filesystem, SCSI stack, SSD performance optimization, and device drivers. Additionally, they participated in technical discussions with partners and customers. Alek started their career as a Computer Science Intern at Genesis Interactive in January 2009, where they worked on an in-game web browser for WoW and performed infrastructure administration tasks on Linux servers.

Alek P. completed a Bachelor's degree in Computational Mathematics from the University of California, Santa Cruz from 2004 to 2008. In 2018 and 2019, Alek pursued a Master's degree in Engineering with a focus in Management from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Additionally, Alek obtained additional certifications in Embedded Systems from UCSC Silicon Valley Extension and completed courses in Introduction to Data Science, The Hardware/Software Interface, and Computer Networks through Coursera.
