Field Application Scientist at Axion BioSystems

Dr. Monica De Maria is an experienced professional in the field of bio-sciences. Dr. Monica began their career in 2013 as a Pharmacist at Farmacia Orientale. In 2014, they became a Postdoctoral Fellow and PhD Student at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, where they studied the dynamic interplay between membrane lipid environment and chemokine receptors activity, specifically focusing on the influence of membrane cholesterol content to the chemokine receptor CXCR4 signaling and activation. In 2015, they were a PhD visitor at the University of Bordeaux, Chemistry and Biology of Membranes and Nanoobjects, UMR 5248 CNRS, working under the supervision of Dr. Isabel Alves. In 2018, they became a Postdoctoral Fellow at EMBL. From 2019 to 2022, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at Oregon Health & Science University, researching opioid receptors (GPCRs) with a major focus on protein expression and recycling. Currently, they are a Field Application Scientist at both Axion BioSystems and Quanterix, providing pre- and post-sales customer support, demo and installation trainings, and attending conferences and trade shows.

Dr. Monica De Maria has an extensive education history. From 2014 to 2018, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Molecular Biology from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. Prior to that, they obtained their Diploma in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology (CTF), Faculty of Pharmacy from Università degli Studi di Genova between 2007 and 2012. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including TELC B2 from telc GmbH - The European Language Certificates in April 2022, Language Center Erlangen-Deutsch Niveau A2 from Language Center Erlangen (Sprachtraining) in May 2017, State exam for Pharmacist Habilitation from Università degli Studi di Genova in December 2012, Diplome d' Etudes en Langue Francaise DELF B2 from Ministère de l'Éducation nationale in July 2006, and Preliminary English Test (PET)- level B1 from University of Cambridge- ESOL Examinations in December 2005.
