Austin Compton currently serves as a Field Application Scientist and Technical Application Specialist at Oxford Nanopore Technologies, a role held since July 2022. Prior to this position, Austin was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Virginia Tech from July 2021 to July 2022, working in Professor Zhijian (Jake) Tu's Laboratory on engineering sex chromosome systems using CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing for sex separation in mosquitoes. Austin obtained a PhD in Biochemistry from Virginia Tech in June 2021, following a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from the same institution in May 2016.
