Nicolas Roy has worked in the scientific field since 2008. In 2008 they completed a Master Internship at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, France, researching DNA reparation processes during Go phase in S. pombe. From 2010 to 2015, they were a Ph.D candidate at Inserm, with their research focusing on BST2/Tetherin, a restriction factor of HIV-1. In 2015, they began a Post-Doc fellow at the Institut Pasteur, where they identified cellular factors involved in the entry of the Togaviridae-member Chikungunya virus, as well as researching the post translational modification of IFITM3, a cellular protein inhibiting viral entry and infectivity of enveloped viruses. From 2016 to 2021, they worked as a Field Application Scientist at Sartorius, and currently holds the same role at Axion BioSystems.
Nicolas Roy obtained their License degree of Cellular biology and Physiology from the Science & Technologies University in Bordeaux, France from 2005 to 2008. Nicolas then went on to pursue a Master degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris, France from 2008 to 2009. Following this, they completed a Master degree in Virology from the Pasteur Institute in Paris-Descartes University from 2009 to 2010. Lastly, they obtained their Ph.D in Biology, option Virology from the Cochin Institute in Paris-Descartes University from 2010 to 2013.
