Tom O'Brien has been the CEO and President of Axion BioSystems since previous company, BioCircuit Technologies. Prior to that, Tom was the Executive Vice President of Corporate Development at Intermagnetics General from January 2003 to December 2007. There, they were part of the leadership team that grew the business leading to a successful exit. Intermagnetics was acquired by Philips Medical Systems of The Netherlands in 2006. Before Intermagnetics General, Tom was the President of the Colors Group at Sensient Technologies from January 2002 to December 2003. There, they ran a global and diverse $400 million specialty chemical business that was a division of a $1 billion public company. Tom reported to the Chairman and CEO and met aggressive operating profit targets. In addition, they managed the team integrating three acquisitions totaling $260 million into US operations. Then, they led organization’s growth—won two contracts worth $210 million over five years while increasing production 50% and reducing annual operating expenses $6 million.
