Sameer Garg

Sameer Garg is a seasoned banking and financial services leader with over 25 years of cross industry experience, spanning banking, insurance, and global aviation—bringing a rare, holistic perspective on premium customers, experience & tech-led growth, and ecosystem partnerships.

He currently serves as Executive Vice President and Regional Branch Banking Head at Axis Bank, where he leads large, diverse markets with a sharp focus on customer-centricity, digital enablement, and sustainable business growth. Having joined Axis Bank in 2016, Sameer has played a pivotal role in shaping new growth engines for the institution. Notably, he conceptualized and built the New Economy Group from the ground up, establishing a startup banking platform that engaged founders, investors, and ecosystem partners at scale. He subsequently helped build and expand Corporate Banking coverage for multinational corporates (MNC) in North India, spanning high-growth sectors such as Technology, Global Capability Centres (GCCs), Renewable Energy, FMCG, Electronics, and Automobiles.

Earlier in his career, Sameer held leadership roles with ICICI Bank and Max New York Life Insurance, gaining deep exposure to retail and protection-led financial solutions. He began his professional journey with United Airlines, where he worked in the aviation and hospitality sector. This diverse cross industry experience & learning agility continues to shape his understanding of service delivery, operational excellence, go-to-market strategy for market share expansion, building teams with growth mindset & establishing sustainable profitable businesses.

Sameer holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Statistics from Delhi University, with formal training in data science. He is deeply interested in leveraging technology, analytics, and AI to enhance customer experience, and balances this with a personal passion for well-being, learning agility, and Ayurveda.
